Tom McAuslin MMedSc FIHM - CEO

Tom joined Flint House in 2011 after a 39 year Service career. As a member of the Royal Naval Medical Service he had roles in Malta, Gibraltar, on surface ships and on submarines.

The latter part of his military career was in medical management which included being the Commanding Officer of the Royal Navy's 100 bed surgical facility on RFA Argus and was also responsible for the military medical facilities in Gibraltar prior to taking up the role of Chief Executive at Flint House.


Sophia Majaya

Sophia Majaya - Clinical Director

Sophia joined Flint House in January 2018,  having to date 19 years experience in Mental Health settings with a background and dual registration in Children’s and Mental Health nursing. In her last role she ran an inpatient CAMHS service where she held the responsibility of operational running, clinical management and CQC registration.

Sophia is committed to maintaining high standards of care throughout the centre. Her aim is to have high expectations and aspirations for each patient accessing Flint House with a positive experience being at the heart of our focus.


Kevin Bishop

Kevin Bishop - PR & Communications Manager.

Kevin came to Flint House in 2007 to promote the Centre and communicate with UK police forces on behalf of Flint House. Kevin works across many fronts internally and externally including being the eyes and ears of the Centre among the forces it deals with.
Prior Kevin was European Sales & Marketing Director heading the UK based Sales & Marketing team in Domestic Fire Safety in the UK, and taking the division into mainland Europe & Scandinavia, working with the premier chains of the national retail markets and personally with accredited safety organisations and charities, as well as the UK Fire Services.


Bett Johnson, Housekeeping Manager

Bett Johnson - Housekeeping Manager.

Married with two children. Qualifications in Accommodation Management.

Thirty years of Accommodation Management as Head Housekeeper with both Corporate large chain hotels, smaller independently owned five star hotels and the Private Health Sector. In post at Flint House for nine years.


Robert Chalmers, Head Chef

Robert Chalmers - Catering Manager.

Robert trained and worked in a varied background of hotel, restaurant and school kitchens, before coming to Flint House in 2003.

Robert encourages his team to gain the best training and experience possible to promote, not only themselves but the Centre as a whole. Robert works with the 'Health & Wellbeing' department developing the Nutrition Awareness class, supported by his brigade, while overseeing the front of house operations, the Dining Room and Bar.


wendy bowyer

Wendy Bowyer - Gardens Manager.

Wendy has been taking care of the gardens at Flint House since 1995, becoming head gardener in 1997.

With over 20 acres including lawns, formal gardens, meadowland and woodland as well as a bowling green and putting green there is a wide variety of work.

Wendy's passion is evident in her ensuring the grounds are looking their best and provide a pleasant and safe environment for our patients.

Debbie Homes - Administration Manager.

Debbie joined Flint House in 2010 from a customer service environment leading a team in a high street bank call centre responsible for 300 staff, bringing these skills to the Centre as part of the Flint House Management Team managing Administration, Security and Drivers.

Proud of her team & believes that an efficient, friendly, approach is key to welcoming patients to the Centre to ensure they have a beneficial experience with us.


nicola day

Nicola Day - Accounts Manager.

Having gained a degree in Economic & Social History, Nicola then took a different direction and worked in the Marketing Department for Northern Telecom creating pricing structures for contracts.

After a brief spell working on payroll and accounts in Oxford Nicola came to Flint House. Nicola has been in post 17 years working in the Accounts Department and has taken on the mantle of HR, Payroll and Pensions and is highly knowledgable of the financial  administration of the Centre .


Brian Richards 1

Brian Richards - Estates Manager.

Brian has been at Flint House since 2005 initially in the Security team. Previously he was in the Royal Navy, and followed this with time within the NHS and a large American corporate company.
Brian has taken the lead responsibility since 2015 for the day to day running of the maintenance team that undertake upkeep of buildings and facilities, as well as leading a dedicated facilities maintenance team that also co-ordinates internal workings, IT provision and major construction projects.

Gail Rainsden - Lead Nurse.

Gail qualified as an RGN in 1985, working as a nurse in Manchester.
Later joining the Queen Alexandra's Royal Army Nursing Corps for 8 years serving home and abroad including the Gulf War 1991, and taking part in a Joint Services Mountaineering Expedition to the Annapurna Range.
After leaving the Army, Gail worked at Derriford Hospital, Plymouth for 5 years specialising in critical care. Gail joined the nursing team at Flint House in 2003 and has been recently appointed to lead the Nursing team, believing good health is the achievement of physical, psychological, spiritual and social wellbeing.


ian barron

Ian Barron BSc Hons degree Physiotherapy, Diploma in Society of Orthopaedic Medicine.

Ian worked in the NHS for 5 years at the Oxford Radcliffe NHS trust specialising in musculoskeletal trauma and Orthopaedics prior to joining Flint House in 2003. In 2006 he became the Deputy Superintendent of the Rehabilitation department and after 10 years has now taken on the superintendent role managing a team of 17 Physios, 4 Rehab Therapists and 3 Physiotherapy assistants. Ian continues to work clinically in a private practice two evenings a week which he has done for the last 13 years while at Flint House.



Sandra Faulkner

Sandra Faulkner

Sandra is the Flint House HR Manager. Initially trained as a secretary but found her roles progressed into HR and 9 years ago decided to follow this route, gaining CIPD qualification at the beginning of 2013. Sandra has worked in both public and private companies, spending the last 15 years in the education sector.


Sheila Hinton

Sheila Hinton

Sheila joined Flint House in March 2016. After 44yrs experience of finance within banking, private and the voluntary sectors. Flint House is a long way from working with the homeless in Reading and those in poverty in the east end of London. The common link being that it puts the patients at the root of all its activities and delivers services that make an impact on their lives. Sheila takes pride in providing timely, accurate and relevant financial information which assists departmental managers, the senior management team and trustees to make strong strategic decisions.


Tracey Tozer

Tracey Tozer

Tracey qualified as an RMN in 1989 having completed her nurse training at York School of Nursing. She worked in the NHS for 16 years gaining experience in a wide number of mental health settings including a therapeutic community for young adults, EMI wards and adult psychiatry. She specialised in Child and Adolescent Mental Health for 11 years working on an inpatient unit and as a CPN. Prior to joining Flint House in 2015 Tracey worked in a private inpatient psychiatric clinic treating adults who presented with a variety of mental health problems.
